for the ultimate in precision and reliability
Established to serve the growing demand for fine-featured, flat profile precision metal parts, Tecan works with cutting edge organisations to co-develop innovative products and bring them quickly to market.
Tecan pioneered the use of photo chemical machining (etching) — an innovative, photolithography-based process that was developed as an off-shoot from the manufacture of printed circuit boards.
Why are we based on the UK’s South Coast? Weymouth and Portland have a long naval heritage which originally attracted a thriving electronics industry. Electronics need precision components.
Now a part of the global Muon organisation, Tecan has seen significant investment in plant and technology over the past few years – strengthening its position as one of the World’s leading precision etching experts.
Prior to the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, Tecan performed extensive due diligence in order to maintain continuity of supply. We would like to reassure our customers that we assessed potential risks and have taken into consideration the following elements: Political, Economic / Financial, Legal and Regulatory, Commercial and Operational aspects of trade.
Measures are in place to meet possible eventualities including a comprehensive set of contingencies throughout our supply chain such as local stocking. Our logistics functions are highly experienced in shipping globally and are tightly aligned to the regulatory requirements.
Tecan continues to conduct business as usual and will assess risks on an ongoing basis, communicating with our customers as appropriate.
Tecan is a COVID-secure site
We have been operating throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, stringently adhering to guidelines. This includes:
- Carrying out a rigorous COVID-19 risk assessment and sharing the results
- Introducing staggered breaks and limited the number of staff in certain areas
- Maintaining the 2m rule at all times
- Introducing a one way system and foot door openers
- Making hand sanitisers available at not only every entrance and exit, but in several other locations
