Tecan's Photo Chemical Machining (PCM) process offers many benefits over other fabrication methods, such as stamping, wire erosion and laser cutting.
- Ultra high precision
Tecan can manufacture parts with feature sizes measured in microns and with sub-micron accuracy sometimes possible.
- Low tooling costs
PEF is centred around glass or mylar-based lithography tooling, which offers cost and time advantages over mechanical centred processes. Tool creation and modification can be simple and is created through CAD.
- Prototype to production
PEF can be used to make one or a million parts on the same mandrel and with the same tooling used every time. This allows the quick and easy development from prototype to pre-production right through to full production.
- Burr free
PEF is an additive process by electro-deposition, so there is no formation of burrs. Also, by its very nature, the surface of a PEF part will confirm precisely to the mandrel.
- Multi-level stepped profile
After the first deposition stage, further stages can be added to create a multi-level or 3D part. This is particularly useful for strengthening thin parts and for creating extremely fine features and tolerances within larger parts.
- Identification marks
Identification marks such as company logos or part numbers can easily be formed into the surface during manufacture.
