Tecan manufactures electroformed micro-embossing tools and injection mould inserts for the mass-production of fine-featured (<1µm) components. Applications typically include refractive and diffractive micro lens arrays, optical components and microfluidic structures.

Tools and moulds are manufactured panels of up to 300mm², often to sub-micron levels of accuracy. These are then used to fabricate precision parts in metal and plastic by hot and UV embossing, and injection moulding.

Tecan can replicate originals produced in photoresist, etched silicon, glass and diamond-turned metal. The tools and moulds combine a hard working surface with a soft backing and have excellent mechanical, release and thermal properties, in addition to good wear characteristics.
