PROTOTYPE MICRO METAL PARTS - READY IN FIVE DAYS

A five-day prototype service has been launched, by Weymouth based Tecan, offering design engineers access to cost-effective small sheet metal parts for a vast array of applications in electronics, engineering, aerospace, medical and similar markets.
Weymouth based Tecan components produces prototype parts for despatch within five working days from the acceptance of a design. From RFI screening cans, leadframes, connectors and encoder disks - to sieves, screens, washers, shims and similar custom components. The company offers over 30 year's expertise in photo-chemical etching to produce the parts, alongside other techniques such as electroforming for higher accuracy and multi-level pieces.
Priding itself on its signal ability to provide 'second-to-none' solutions, the company often wins contracts for parts which competitors are unable, or reluctant to attempt.
Speed and accuracy are prime standards as is the philosophy that no part will be offered unless it has already been proven that it can be achieved. This often leads to leading edge solutions, with niche advantages, being produced - a recent example being a selectively gold-plated lead-frame for an optoelectronics application.
In addition to rapid delivery of the first low-volume parts, the service has other benefits. For example, once the part is adopted, down-the-line production speeds and costs are reduced because the tooling is already in place. Future modifications can be cost-effectively incorporated if necessary using the company's powerful CAD system, ensuring any 'knock-on' tooling costs are also minimised.
Designers of new parts and those seeking urgent access to high-quality micro-engineered parts for repair or retrofit will benefit from the service. Typical application areas include electronics, engineering, aerospace, telecommunications, medical, automotive and computer components. The following CAD formats are accepted, AutoCad DFX and DWG, GraphiCodeCAM PWK and CWK, DPF, Gerber, HPGL, WMF Vector, CorelDRAW Vector, Postscript and IGES. All parts are produced within the company's strict ISO9002 quality-control regime.
