The recipient, former Royal Navy WREN, Jo Windell, began her 30 years of service back in 1977 as a shop-floor operative and has since risen through the company to a position on the board as Customer Care Director.
“A good deal of our work is bespoke and depends on excellent communication skills backed by world-leading technical know how - to achieve this we need the best possible staff,” said Paul Cane, Chairman and Founder, Tecan. “Jo epitomizes loyalty and dedication and is exceptionally good at her job, she is much appreciated and respected by our customers and her fellow employees and is fundamental to our ongoing expansion. She is a fresh and inspirational character and I admire the confidence she has developed, both in-house and crucially with our wide customer base which includes some of the world’s most prestigious blue-chip companies. I sincerely hope we will be working together for many more years to come”
The company which employs over 120 people has an impressive track record of staff loyalty, 31 of whom have over ten years, 18 over fifteen years and 9 with over twenty years service. Staff training and development are seen as key elements in the company’s world-leading status and along with its ongoing recognition of achievement and loyalty are at the core of its success.
In addition to her cheque, Mrs Windell, was presented with a plaque, precision-etched by the company itself of course, which is inscribed with the words: ’To Jo Windell to commemorate thirty years of loyal service to Tecan, from 14th February1977 to 14th February 2007’.
Years of process development have culminated in Tecan being able to cost-effectively manufacture microscopic metal parts with feature sizes down to just 2 microns - to put that into perspective, a human hair is typically 50 microns in diameter.
