Having developed a range of beneficial manufacturing techniques, specifically photo-chemical machining and pressing, Weymouth based Tecan Components is providing the high and very high-volume surface-mount industry with bespoke screening cans, which save time and re-work.

A sound knowledge of surface-mount processes, has provided the specialist design and manufacturing company with innovative solutions to optimise the soldering of screening cans using solder paste stencils.

Tecan produces cans and fences from simple regular box designs to complex enclosures with profiles to suit individual applications. Options include Reflow Plimsoll Line (RPL), which minimises the vertical migration of solder during reflow, thereby increasing solder fillets and reducing voids and blow holes. Maintaining tight co-planarity constraints demanded by high volume manufacture, post-reflow electrical/mechanical integrity and aesthetics are enhanced, quality-control pass rates are raised and rework minimised.

Rapid prototyping is available on a five-day turnaround, providing small-volume samples for assessment and pre-production approval. Tool costs for sample and pre-production components are low compared to other methods of manufacture and modifications can be quickly and cost-effectively accommodated. Tecan is approved to ISO9002 standard and also manufactures to UK and overseas military specifications.

The company accepts the following CAD formats;
• Preferred format: AutoCad DXF and DWG. Other formats accepted:
GraphiCode CAM PWK and CWK, DPF, Gerber, HPGL, WMF Vector, CorelDraw Vector, Postscript and IGES.
